Updates

Important: If you have a problem with how the app works, it might be due to an update. Try closing the app and clearing the cache. If that doesn't work, try closing the app and clearing both the cache and the settings.

Below is a list of significant updates made since 1st May, 2024:

14 October 2024

  • New options in Settings to justify text and to pin the bottom bar (to the bottom of the screen). Note that previously on wider screens the bottom bar was pinned.
  • Numerous other minor changes.

28 September 2024

  • New bottom bar for small devices: There is a new bar that displays at the bottom of the screen (unless the user is scrolling downward). It has five different arrow icons, labeled: Back, Forward, Top (to go to the top of the page), Left (to go to the preceding page) and Right (to go to the following page). The previous bar that displayed at the bottom of the screen has been moved to the top, with an option in Settings > Layout to pin it to the top of the screen.
  • Further changes to Settings particularly on smaller devices.
  • Numerous other minor changes.

14 September 2024

  • Forward button added.
  • Headers are displayed on most pages of the 7 editions. On smaller devices, the headers replace buttons that were displayed at the start of page - for a simpler presentation.
  • All wider devices now have a Toggles button on the RHS of the top bar in the 7 editions. Activating the Toggles button hides the breadcrumbs in the top bar and instead displays buttons for toggling particular settings on and off.
  • The Settings page has an improved format, notably on smaller devices.
  • Numerous other minor changes.

13 August 2024

  • Back button added.
  • Bookmarks more user-friendly.
  • On wider screens, Settings toggles now always display in topbar. Settings Layout settings adjusted accordingly.
  • Numerous other minor changes.

15 July 2024

  • On the bottom bar of the Home page and other “top-level” pages, the Privacy and Licence icons have been replaced by Updates and Share icons. The Share icon opens a bar containing icons for sharing a web page about the TBU app on social media – functionality not previously available on this app.
  • The menu is initially displayed the first time a user opens Settings in a new session.
  • All of the settings now display by default. There is also now a Current button on the bottom bar, which has replaced the View All button. If Settings is accessed from an edition, the user can restrict the settings that are displayed to only settings applicable to the current edition by activating the Current button.

24 June 2024

  • Changed two icons on the bottom bar on the 'top level' pages (e.g. Home, About). That bottom bar now has icons for Updates and Share. These have replaced the Privacy and Licence icons. The Privacy and Licence pages can still be accessed from links on the About page.
  • Added a Social Media bar to the 'top level' pages, which is opened by tapping the new Share icon.

12 June 2024

  • Revamped the Settings section, to make it a more familiar user experience.
  • Added a section called Bible Websites to Settings, for choosing a website and (depending on choice of website) a translation, for checking context of passages. (See following point.)
  • Added functionality to enable users to quickly go to a Bible website to check a passage's context. Firstly, users need to go to Settings > Bible Websites and switch on Create links to sites.
    Subsequently, when a user taps a passage's Bible reference, a link address is created to the reference at the selected Bible website. Then the address is sent to the clipboard, ready to be pasted in a browser.
  • Made Bookmark labels simpler to add.

  • Fixed issue with links on index pages to index sections.
  • Made Bookmarks dialog box draggable only by dragging the title bar.
